Why Does Route A Need Improvements?
Route A from Route 21 to Collins Road needs resurfacing and shoulder work to maintain a quality driving surface for Jefferson County motorists. This improvement work will make a significant difference in the quality of pavement on Route A after construction is complete.
What Improvements on Route A Are Being Proposed?
- Left turn lanes will be constructed on Route A at the intersection with Pioneer Road and Highland Baptist Church Road.
- Left turn lanes will be constructed on Route A at the intersection with Old Highway A and Frontier Road.
- Resurface Route A from Route 21 to Collins Avenue and upgrade the shoulders on this route.
- An additional eastbound lane will be constructed on Route A between Pounds Road and Collins Road.
How Will Traffic Be Impacted While Construction Is Under Way?
During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers when crews are working during non peak hours.
When Will Construction Take Place?
The Route A Improvement Project was awarded to L. Krupp Construction for approximately $3.9 million. Construction will begin in early February 2010 and is expected to be complete in August 2010.
