Interstate 44 Resurfacing Project

I-44

Why Did Interstate 44 between Pacific and the Route 100 (Washington) Exit Need Improvements?

The pavement in this area is in poor condition and needed to be resurfaced.

What Improvements on Interstate 44 Were Completed?

i-44Work consisted of grading, drainage improvements, pavement replacement, a median closure and an additional lane added in both directions on Interstate 44 between Pacific and the Route 100 (Washington) exit. The Interstate 44 resurfacing project is among the 12 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act projects awarded in July 2009 by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for approximately $17.3 million dollars to Fred Weber, Incorporated.

More information on the recovery act projects can be found at www.modot.org/readytogo.

What's Next for the Project?

Construction was completed by November 1, 2010. One lane will continue to be closed on Interstate 44 at the Pacific exit for work on the Interstate 44 Viaduct Street Interchange Project. MoDOT is reconstructing the south half of the Viaduct Street interchange by relocating the eastbound Interstate 44 ramps approximately one half mile west of Viaduct Street. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be scheduled in December to celebrate the completion of both projects.
