The following projects are currently planned for improvements to I-70 though St. Charles County:
- I-70 from 5th Street to Route 61. Upgrade the traffic signal systems along the outer roads and ramps. Construction will continue through winter 2010. Drivers can expect some lane closures on the outer roads and ramps during non-peak travel times.
- I-70 outer roads between Route 79 and Route K. Crews placed an asphalt overlay. Work is essentially complete.
- I-70 from west of Route K to Lake St. Louis Blvd. Crews removed, repaired and replaced asphalt along this stretch of I-70. Except for some striping, work is complete.
- I-70 at 5th Street, Zumbehl, Cave Springs and Mid Rivers – Crews will repair pavement and lay asphalt on ramps, outer road segments and cross streets. Work is scheduled to start in March 2010 based on weather.
- I-70 from Route 94 to Mid-Rivers Mall Drive - Crews will put a thin asphalt overlay on the roadway. This project should start in summer 2010.
- I-70 at various locations - Crews will rehabilitate a number of bridges along the I-70 corridor in St. Charles County. Bridges include three at Route 370, four between Dardenne Creek and Route K and Zumbehl, Cave Springs and Mid Rivers Mall Drive. Work has started and should be complete in fall 2010. This work may require night-time lane drops on either I-70 or the overpass.
- I-70 at 5th Street (Permit work) – The city of St. Charles is working on interchange improvements at 5th Street and the westbound I-70 exit ramp. The city is designing and administering the project. Construction should start in spring 2009.
