MoDOT Holds Public Hearing to Discuss Upcoming Roundabout Project in Jackson
The busy intersection of Route 61 and Main Street in Jackson will soon get an update to help traffic flow more smoothly. The City of Jackson recently accepted the Missouri Department of Transportation's recommendation to construct a roundabout in this location.
A public hearing to discuss the upcoming improvements was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9 in the Missouri Room of Jackson's City Hall.
"A roundabout will reduce peak traffic waits by about 75 percent, where a traffic light would only improve it by about 60 percent," said Project Manager Eric Krapf. In addition, to improving traffic flow and efficiency by reducing wait times, roundabouts also improve safety.
