One-Lane Traffic Expected on
Route 160/13
Between Finley River and Highlandville
As Paving Project Gets Underway
MoDOT, District 8, Springfield --
Drivers can expect one-lane traffic on Route 160/13 between the
Finley River south of Nixa and Route EE at Highlandville beginning
Wednesday, May 4. That's when a contractor crew plans to begin
resurfacing the highway, the Missouri Department of Transportation
said.
Crews will begin at Highlandville
and proceed north to the Finley River bridge south of Nixa. It's
expected to take up to two weeks to resurface the two driving
lanes and the shoulders of the highway.
During the paving operation, drivers
can expect:
* One-lane traffic with delays.
* Flaggers directing drivers through
the work zone.
The roadway will receive a new 3-3/4
inch asphalt driving surface.
The 4-1/2-mile long project also includes
adding turn lanes on Route 160/13 at several county road approaches
and widening the approaches of Finley Drive and Melton Road at
Route 160/13.
To help with weekend traffic flow,
contractor crews are scheduled to stop all operations and be off
the road by 3 p.m. each Friday.
For the Memorial Day holiday, to avoid
added congestion on a busy travel weekend, crews will stop work
at noon on Friday, May 27. Work will resume after 9 a.m. on Tuesday,
May 31.
At the end of the project, contractor
crews will replace the guardrail on either end of the Finley River
bridge. During guardrail installation, driving lanes on Route
160/13 approaching the bridge may be narrowed.
The entire project is scheduled to
be completed by mid-June.
Rain could cause delays in the project.
The prime contractor
is Journagan Construction of Springfield doing the work for a
low-bid amount of $1.5 million.
