Top Projects Around the District
The top projects that are most visible to the traveling public and most likely to receive interest or inquiry. For a complete list of all projects for 2011, review the Road Work Resource Center.
Some major projects in Jackson County include not one, but three new diverging diamond interchanges:
Interstate 435, Interstate 470, Route 50/350 and Route 71: Intelligent Transportation System expansion, including the installation of dynamic message boards and cameras
Interstate 70: Bridge improvements at Route 40 and Sterling Avenue
Interstate 70: Construct diverging diamond interchange at Woods Chapel Road in Blue Springs
With funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, three projects will wrap up in the next year, including:
Interstate 70 at Interstate 435: Build collector ramps, replace Blue Ridge Extension Bridge, add half-diamond interchange at Interstate 435 and Route 40 and add a lane in each direction of Interstate 70 under Interstate 435
Two major bridge projects will wrap up this year, including:
Route 45 Platte River Bridge--Farley: This bridge is scheduled to be replaced in 2011. The current design will replace the 3-span truss brige with a plate girder bridge. Click here to view the online meeting.
Route 45 BNSF Bridge : MoDOT in conjunction with KCP&L is replacing the BNSF railroad bridge just north of Weston.
Crews begin construction on Route 45 between Routes 9 and K: Crews will construct additional driving lanes along Route 45 allowing for better and safer traffic flow through this thriving area. In addition, the city will build a bicycle and pedestrian path to run parallel with Route 45.
