Top Projects Around the District


The top projects that are most visible to the traveling public and most likely to receive interest or inquiry. For a complete list of all projects for 2011, review the Road Work Resource Center.


Cass County

MoDOT will bring many minor routes up-to-speed in Cass County this year, including:

  • Route F:  Resurfacing from Route 7 to Route B
  • Route J: Resurfacing and safety improvements from Route 58 to Route 71 in Raymore
  • Route A: Resurfacing from Route 18 to Route B
  • Route P: Resurfacing from Route 291 to end of state maintenance
  • Route Z:  Resurfacing from Route 2 to Route 7
  • Route TT: Cold mix treatment from Route 7 to end of state maintenance
  • Route DD:  Resurfacing from Route 2 to end of state maintenance
  • Route CC:  Resurfacing from Route E to end of state maintenance
  • Route EE:  Resurfacing from Route 7 to end of state maintenance

Clay County

Major routes and interchange projects scheduled for 2011 include:

  • Interstate 29:  Resurfacing from Vivion Road to Parvin Road
  • Interstate 35:  Bridge improvements over Lightburne Street
  • Route 169:  Resurfacing on southbound lanes from NW Cookingham Drive to Barry Road
  • Route 9: Interchange and capacity improvements at Route 9 and Briarcliff Parkway.

Minor Road Projects:

  • Route EE:  Resurfacing from Route H to Route 210
  • Route N:  Resurfacing from Route 10 to Route 210
  • Route W:  Resurfacing from Route C to Route 169

Henry County

Route 13 continues to see improvements throughout the county, including:

  • Route 13:  Resurfacing from Johnson County line to south of Route N near Clinton
  • Route 13:  Resurfacing from Route N to Route 7
  • Business Route 13:  Resurfacing from Route 7 to Bodine Street in Clinton

Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program will repair or replace 11 bridges in Henry County in 2011, including:

  • Route C over Barker Creek
  • Route Z over Big Otter Creek
  • Route K over South Grand River
  • Route N over Big Creek
  • Route O over Honey Creek

Jackson County

Some major projects in Jackson County include not one, but three new diverging diamond interchanges:

With funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, three projects will wrap up in the next year, including:

  • Interstate 70 at Interstate 435:  Build collector ramps, replace Blue Ridge Extension Bridge, add half-diamond interchange at Interstate 435 and Route 40 and add a lane in each direction of Interstate 70 under Interstate 435
  • Interstate 70:  Rehabilitate five westbound bridges between Troost Avenue and Van Brunt
  • Route 150:  Widen to four lanes from Horridge Road to Route 291

Johnson County

Johnson County will benefit from several resurfacing projects to improve driving surfaces on minor routes, such as:

  • Route 50:  Resurfacing westbound lanes from County Road 1501 to Route HH
  • Route 13:  Resurfacing from south of BB to south of Route N in Henry County
  • Route 50:  Intersection improvements at Route W and Z, Route 131 and County Road 1601
  • Business Route 13:  Resurfacing from Business 50 to Route DD in Warrensburg
  • Route 131:  Resurfacing from the Lafayette County Line to
    Route 50

Lafayette County

Lafayette County will see a lot of improvements on minor routes and 16 local bridges.

Minor Roads Projects include:

  • Business Route 13:  Resurfacing from Route 24 to 1.3 miles east of Route E
  • Business Route 13:  Resurfacing from Route 20 to Route 13
  • Interstate 70 Outer Road:  Resurfacing from N. Action Road to Route 131 and from Route 131 to North Johnson Drive
  • Route AA:  Resurfacing from Route V to Route 23
  • Route MM:  Resurfacing from beginning of state maintenance to Route 13
  • Route H:  Resurfacing from Route E to Route 13 in Johnson County

 Safe & Sound Bridge Projects include:

  • Route 13 over Davis Creek
  • Route 24 over Little Sni-A-Bar Creek
  • Route 24 over Big Sni-A-Bar Creek
  • Route FF over Tabo Creek
  • Route 224 over Graham Branch
  • Route 23 over Davis Creek

Platte County

Two major bridge projects will wrap up this year, including:

  • Route 45 Platte River Bridge--Farley: This bridge is scheduled to be replaced in 2011. The current design will replace the 3-span truss brige with a plate girder bridge. Click here to view the online meeting.
  • Route 45 BNSF Bridge : MoDOT in conjunction with KCP&L is replacing the BNSF railroad bridge just north of Weston.
  • Crews begin construction on Route 45 between Routes 9 and K: Crews will construct additional driving lanes along Route 45 allowing for better and safer traffic flow through this thriving area. In addition, the city will build a bicycle and pedestrian path to run parallel with Route 45.

Ray County

Minor Roads Projects will improve driving surfaces on several routes, including:

  • Route A:  Resurfacing from Caldwell County Line to
    Route 10
  • Route N:  Resurfacing from Route 10 to end of state maintenance
  • Route Z:  Resurfacing from south of Orrick to end of state maintenance

Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program will repair or rebuild 10 bridges in Ray County, including:

  • Route B over Crooked River
  • Route E over South Mud Creek
  • Route BB over Crooked River
  • Route C over Rocky Fork Creek
  • Route C over Crooked River
  • Route FF over McDonald Bridge
  • Route B over Cottonwood Creek
  • Route C over Swafford Bridge
  • Route 13 over Bridge
  • Route 10 over Crooked River
  • Route 10 over Crooked River Overflow (3 bridges)
