Why is MoDOT doing this project?
Projects to reconstruct two Route 71 interchanges in north Cass County and south Jackson County, and a new interchange two miles south of Route 58 in Cass County, are concluding after two years of construction-related backups. Traffic now flows smoothly along this major south Kansas City area corridor.
How do these projects benefit me?
These three interchange improvements will pull traffic away from the highly congested Route 58 interchange, which means improved traffic flow on Route 58 – a highway of commerce shared by Belton and Raymore. These improvements also provide additional foundation for continued economic growth and will enhance MoDOT’s efforts to improve the Route 71 corridor to interstate standards in the next decade.
What is the project time line?
The intersection at 163rd opened in December 2009.
The North Cass Parkway opened July 28, 2010. The new single-point interchange at Route 150 will open ramps on the northbound side this fall, and all work will be completed late this season.
How much does this project cost?
The Route 150/71 interchange is $29,607,000.
The Route 150 widening projects total $34,275,000.
North Cass Parkway Interchange is $10,115,666.
The reconstructed 163rd Street Interchange is $13,547,626.
