U.S. 63 and Route H Interchange |
|
The Missouri Department of Transportation proposes to construct a diamond interchange at U.S. 63 and Route H near the Columbia Regional Airport in Boone County. The project also includes constructing new southbound lanes from just north of Route 163 to Route H in Columbia. An outer roadway would be created using the current southbound lanes. This would allow for the removal of several crossovers to improve safety.

Route 740 (Stadium Blvd.) Improvements |
|
The Missouri Department of Transportation is working with the City of Columbia to widen Route 740 (Stadium Blvd.) from the North Outer Road of I-70 to south of Broadway. The existing five-lane, undivided roadway will be improved to a six-lane divided roadway with a median wide enough to accommodate dual left turns at intersections.
The project will also modify the I-70 and Stadium Blvd. interchange to improve traffic flow and safety. Lanes will be added to Fairview Road from Worley Avenue North to the west entrance of the Columbia Mall and to Bernadette Drive from Fairview Road to Beverly Drive.
The project cost is estimated at $20 million. Work begins in 2011 and will continue in stages, through 2014. The improvements are being funded by the City of Columbia, MoDOT, and three transportation development districts.

I-70 Improvement Study |
|
| |
The I-70 Improvement Study is an effort by the Missouri Department of Transportation to determine how to improve the safety and efficiency of travel on 199 miles of Interstate 70 between Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri. The study identified widening and reconstructing the existing I-70 as the preferred approach to improving the corridor. It also considered the location and configuration of improvements to be made.
In September 2007, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced Interstate 70 through Missouri as one of six interstates nationwide included in its “Corridors of the Future” program to look at innovative ways to reduce congestion and improve freight delivery.
The program calls for the Interstate 70 corridor through Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio to add four dedicated truck lanes. Missouri will receive $2 million to supplement the existing I-70 study to consider the truck lanes concept.
