Crews at the Route 5 construction site took a break for the July 4th holiday. While they enjoyed their day off, 15 dump trucks were lined up along on the southbound lanes of the new Route 5.

As excavation work continues, the path of the new highway cuts through the landscape of Camden County.

The contractor is now using articulated dump trucks that hold approximately 40 cubic yards of material. The trucks have a hinge between the cab and dump box that makes it easier to manipulate over rough terrain.

Grading work continues near School Road. In this photo, the new Camdenton High School is on the far right and the elevated area in the center is the southbound Route 5 bridge over School Road.

A culvert box is under construction north of School Road, near the new Camdenton High School.

Grading operations continue near where the new Route 5 will eventually pass under the existing route, just north of Route 7.
Crews till the soil to allow it to dry before compacting it down to the correct elevation for the new road.

Crews also work on another culvert, this one brought in piece by piece and assembled on site.
