2009-2013 Statewide Highway & Bridge Construction Schedule

The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area for the week of Nov. 24-26, 2008. Scheduled construction and maintenance operations affecting traffic will cease for the Thanksgiving holiday during the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 24, and resume Monday, Dec. 1. Weather conditions may cause postponements in the work schedule. Other construction or maintenance work may occur on other roadways throughout the area. Many projects will include lane closures and delays can be expected.

Benton County

Daylight Hours

Route 52 between Route W and Route 65 – Roadway maintenance will take place in various locations on Monday, Nov. 24.  One lane will be open to traffic in each work area.

Boone County

Overnight/Daylight Hours

Route 63 at the new Gans Road Interchange – Finishing work is being performed on the south and northbound shoulders.  Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction while the contractor removes the median crossovers at Ponderosa Road and Old Gans Road.  The new interchange is now open.

Route 763 between Big Bear Blvd. and Prathersville Road in Columbia – Roadway widening. 

  • The roadway between Big Bear Blvd. and Prathersville Road in various locations is narrowed to ten feet.
  • Utility work continues in various locations. 
  • Construction of the roundabout continues at Prathersville Road.  The remaining portion of the roundabout is expected to open within a few weeks. 
  • Brown School Road at Route 763 is currently closed to traffic.
  • Safari Drive is closed for approximately one week for paving.           
  • The dedicated left turn lanes for north and southbound traffic on Route 763 at Blue Ridge Road are now straight through lanes. This new configuration will stay in place through the duration of the project.

The project is expected to be complete by August 2009.

Camden County

Overnight/Daylight Hours

Route 54 Expressway, between Business 54 south and the Grand Glaize Bridge in Osage Beach – Grading, paving and new bridge construction. 

  • Excavation, rock removal and drainage work will take place between the Grand Glaize bridge and Route 42. 
  • Bridge construction continues on the Hatchery Road Bridge.
  • Excavation and drainage work is underway for the Osage Beach Parkway south bridge over the new Route 54.
  • East and westbound traffic on existing Route 54 is using the bypass between Route 42 and Bluff Road.  The bridge within the bypass has a width restriction of two 10-foot lanes.  This traffic configuration will remain in place through spring 2009. 
  • Minor traffic delays may occur on Bluff Dr. as the contractor prepares for paving of the new Passover Road.

The project will be complete by 2010.

Howard’s Ford on County Road NN-166

Griswald’s Slab on County Road N-145

Green’s Slab on County Road N-166R - Low water crossing modifications.  All three roadways cross the Little Niangua River northwest of Route N, near Macks Creek.  The work is being done as part of MoDOT’s efforts to mitigate environmental impacts for nearby highway

construction.  The modifications will also reduce maintenance needs and reduce the frequency of flooding. The crossings are closed and motorists will need to find alternative routes during construction.  The crossings are expected to be complete by the end of 2008.

Daylight Hours

Route 5 from two miles south of the Niangua Bridge to Route 54 - New roadway, interchanges, bridges and paving approximately two miles south of the Niangua Bridge.  Paving is underway on the new Route 5.  One lane of Route 54 will be open to traffic during installation of drainage structures, lighting and signals at the new Route 5 and Route 54 interchange.   

Traffic on Route 5 in this area is not affected at this time. This portion of the project is expected to be complete in 2009.

Route 5 between Old Route 5 and south of Route P in Laclede County – Shared four-lane highway.  Excavation, rock removal, erosion control and drainage work continues on the north end of the project.  Traffic on Route 5 is not affected at this time. This portion of the project is expected to be complete by early fall 2009.

Route W, Spring Creek Bridge – Motorists should be aware that the 10-ton weight limit remains in place on the bridge.

Cooper County

Daylight Hours

Route 41, Lamine River Bridge, just north of I-70 – Bridge deck repairs will continue.  One lane of the bridge will be open to traffic.  The repairs are expected to be complete by winter 2008.

I-70 between Route J (mile marker 117) and Route 179 (mile marker 111)

I-70 between Route M to Route K – Roadway maintenance will take at each location on Monday, Nov. 24, through Wednesday, Nov. 26.  One lane will be open to traffic in each location.

Morgan County

Daylight Hours

Route 52 between Route 5 and the Benton County line – Roadway maintenance will take place on Monday, Nov. 24 in various locations.  One lane will be open to traffic in each work area.

Route AA approximately 0.5 miles South of Route 52 in Barnett - Culvert pipe replacement will take place on Monday, Nov. 24 and Tuesday, Nov. 25.  Both lanes will be closed to traffic.  Flaggers and detour signs will be in place to assist traffic.

Route 50 east of Route E to Route K  – Clearing, grading and drainage work for new four-lane highway.  Traffic on Route 50 is not affected at this time.

Route 65 approximately 2 miles south of Route 765
- Slide repair.  The slide occurred when a portion of the shoulder and embankment became saturated and gave way.  One lane will be open to traffic in the work area.
