Bill McKenna has been a member of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission since 2001. Although his term expired in March 2007, McKenna was asked to remain on the commission by Gov. Matt Blunt to assist with the St. Louis Mississippi River Bridge project.
McKenna retired as president of Jefferson College in the Jefferson County community of Hillsboro on July 1, a position he had held since July 2002. He served in the Missouri House of Representatives for 11 years and the Missouri Senate for five years. While in the Senate, he was president pro tem in 1997 and 1998.
McKenna also serves on the executive board of the St. Louis RCGA, Jefferson Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and the friends board at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He also serves on his local Senior Center and Developmental Disabilities boards. McKenna has owned and operated a business in Jefferson County and continues to work with various civic, charitable and veterans groups throughout the area.
He has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in public administration, both from Southeast Missouri State University.
McKenna and his wife, Debbie, have five children and three grandchildren.
