Gov. Blunt Signs Bills to Dramatically Improve Missouri Bridges Legislation Fast Tracks Plan to Improve 800 Missouri Bridges Gov. Matt Blunt recently signed legislation paving the way to repair or replace more than 800 Missouri bridges by 2012. The Missouri bridge plan has become a national model for other states. Bridge Bills MoDOT officials met with regional planning agency representatives recently to talk about what additional investments in Missouri's transportation system would buy. Future Priorities Receives National Quality Award MoDOT has increased worker safety and saved about $7 million in workers' compensation costs. The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials recently recognized these accomplishments with its Pathfinder award for quality. Costs Reduced New Law Affects Local Household Movers Any company that hauls household goods within Missouri cities or commercial zones exclusively now must obtain state operating authority to continue to provide moving services in 2008. Missouri’s Safe Routes to School Inaugural Conference is scheduled for Sept. 20-22 in Branson at the Hilton Convention Center and Hotel, and safety advocates across the state are encouraged to attend.
