First Design-Build Project Will Save Time and Resources
The new Interstate 64 project will be the first design-build project in Missouri. Design-build is a new process that saves both time and resources by combining the design and construction phases of a project into one contract. The I-64 project involves rebuilding 12 miles of the interstate in St. Louis. At a cost of over $500 million, it's the largest MoDOT project ever. Construction will begin in fall 2006. I-64 Project
Transportation’s Impact on Economic Development Studied
The Missouri departments of Transportation and Economic Development are teaming up to determine the impact highway projects have on the state’s economy, revenue and demographics. MoDOT Making Missouri Highways Ready to Rumble
Motorists are getting a wake-up call these days as they drive state roadways. The Missouri Department of Transportation is busy installing rumble stripes -- a new safety feature to reduce crashes and injuries on major highways -- to alert motorists when they’re leaving the driving lane. Emergency Response Trucks to the Rescue!
Within
30 minutes of a highway incident, a MoDOT emergency response truck
can be on the scene to help law enforcement officials control
traffic and quickly clear the roadway. The expansion of MoDOT's
Emergency Response program, which took effect Oct. 1, makes it
possible for the department to help law enforcement with incidents
